Day One in Masai Mara

Our first day in Masai Mara National Reserve. After settling in at the Governors’ Camp, we headed out to see what we came for: exiting animals in a breathtaking environment. The savanna like landscape is home to an incredible number and variety of plants and animals that we only know from the zoo or the TV.

But seeing them in their natural habitat… this is definitely a must see! Seeing a Elefant family wander into the distant setting sun, or a Lion crunching down to sneak up on his prey, hearing the growl of a Leopard mother with her cubs… just to name a few things we could experience in a relatively short time.

As Part I see a few pictures below. but wait… we saved the best.

Look what this bird has got in his beak – (a lizard in th beak of a lilac-breasted roller)

And of course there where the lions – so impressive if you see them from a few meters away.

Is this Daddy?

The king is impressive and certainly one of the most impressive figures of the Masai Mara – but not the biggest 🙂

If you are patient and quite, elefants will come really close.

Impala’s in the bush, always attentive – knowing what predators are out there
